Plane of Manifestation

Table of Contents

The plane of Manifestation represents the first grade of initiation in the journey of the serpent. Initiation to this plane requires complete comprehension of the elemental work, specifically the Earth element.

Advancement through the grades of the First or Outer Order is designed to convey to the aspirant an understanding of the four Elemental principles of nature. But, more importantly, the student must learn to realize and balance these four Elements as indispensable ingredients of his/her own psychological and spiritual make-up.

At this plane of experience, members are not only getting access to certain literature accompanying their journey of initiation, but also they will be able to attend certain discussion spaces and ask for personal guidance on their journey of initiation.

Assiah

ASSIAH is the fourth and final World, the World of Action, consisting only of Malkuth.” The final letter, Heh, of Tetragrammaton is ascribed to Assiah, which is also the World of Primordial Earth. In Assiah the four Elements which make up the physical universe exist both in sensation and in the hidden properties of matter. This is the corporeal World where tangible activity can take place. It is the realm of matter and of humanity, yet it is also the world of “shells,” made up of the denser Elements of the preceding three worlds. In addition, Assiah is the abode of evil demons, known to the Qabalists as the Qlippoth. The Secret Name of Assiah is Ben, which means “Son.”

Earth and the other Greek classical elements were incorporated into the Golden Dawn system. Zelator is the elemental grade attributed to earth; this grade is also attributed to the Qabbalistic sphere Malkuth.[1] The elemental weapon of earth is the Pentacle.[5] Each of the elements has several associated spiritual beings. The archangel of earth is Uriel, the angel is Phorlakh, the ruler is Kerub, the king is Ghob, and the earth elementals (following Paracelsus) are called gnomes.[2] Earth is considered to be passive; it is represented by the symbol for Taurus, and it is referred to the lower left point of the pentagram in the Supreme Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram.[2] Many of these associations have since spread throughout the occult community.

It is sometimes represented by its Tattva or by a downward pointing triangle with a horizontal line through it.
